We really enjoyed celebrating Black History Month this week! It started off with a Gullah storyteller coming and sharing her culture and traditions with us and ended with the African American Read-In. During the read-in, volunteers came to our classrooms and read stories highlighting Black history.

Student Showcase
Lower and Upper Montessori sang an inspiring song from The Greatest Showman. After the performance, students went back to their rooms and showcased all they know. It was a wonderful evening!

The Blake
Some of the Upper Montessori and traditional students at Pontiac have been visiting the Blake on a weekly basis to read and build community. It is a heart warming experience:
Baby Olive is here and Mrs. Perez is doing so well:
What a blessing she is!

Authorś Visit
We were so fortunate that the author and the illustrator of Spotless came to visit us today. One of the Upper Montessori students, Caroline, contributed to the book. It was so wonderful to hear the author read her book and answer questions.
Caroline wrote the Top Ten Things You Should Know About Albinism section. |

Professional Parrot Interviews
On Friday, November 15th, the fifth graders at Pontiac took part in Professional Parrot Interviews. It involved ten one minute interviews with professionals around Richland County. A special thanks to Ms. Jeter who put this event together. The fifth graders did an awesome job and we are so proud of each of them. Winners were chosen from each classroom and the top three interviewers from Pontiac were also honored. Way to go fifth graders!

Harry Potter: The Boy Who Lived
Today, Upper Montessori and traditional fourth grade went to see "Harry Potter: The Boy Who Lived." It was a wonderful production and from the energy in the audience, it was obvious how much it was enjoyed! A special thanks to Ms. Rayner for putting together this awesome opportunity!
